An Epistle of the Báb to Mullá Ḥusayn Bushrú’í from al-Mukhā

Abstract: Revealed in the port of al-Mukhā shortly after His departure from Medina, this brief yet weighty Epistle was addressed by the Báb, in Arabic, to Mullá Ḥusayn-i-Bushrú’í during His return to Búshihr at the close of His pilgrimage. The circumstances of its revelation, attested by the Báb’s own Khuṭbih-i-Jiddah (“Sermon of Jiddah”) and corroborating historical evidence, place it between the 4th and 6th of March 1845 — a turning point marking the conclusion of His hajj and the inauguration of a new phase in the proclamation of His Cause. In this luminous Epistle, the Báb glorifies God for the descent of the Spirit upon Mullá Ḥusayn, extols his faithfulness, and enjoins steadfastness, patience, and trust in divine justice. He affirms that all souls shall be judged with equity and charges him to convey the salutation of the Remembrance of God unto the believers.
