Abstract: This paper examines the Epistle revealed by the Báb for Mullá Ṣādiq-i-Khurasání, situating it within the earliest years of the Bábí Dispensation. The Tablet was disclosed during the Báb’s brief sojourn in Búshihr, between 14 May and 25 June 1845, shortly after His return from pilgrimage to Mecca and Medina. Among several Tablets revealed in that period—most notably the “Seven Qualifications” addressed to His uncle, Ḥájí Mírzá Siyyid ʿAlí—the Epistle to Mullá Ṣādiq stands out for the specific charge it entrusted to one of the Faith’s most devoted disciples. In this luminous Tablet, the Báb both reproves and reassures Mullá Ṣādiq, reminding him of earlier injunctions and enjoining him to lay aside fear, openly proclaim the Cause of God, and incorporate the testimony of the Remembrance in the Call to Prayer. The reference to the “Book of Kings” links this command to the ordinance first set down in the Tablet of the Seven Qualifications, thereby underscoring the continuity of His early laws. The fulfillment of this charge—when Mullá Ṣādiq, Quddús, and Mullá ʿAlí-Akbar Ardistání fearlessly raised the Call in its prescribed form—precipitated violent opposition, yet also marked a defining moment in the unfolding of the Bábí movement.
