Please Help Our Dear Friend Maria

Maria Gladis is an absolutely amazing lady who I lived with in El Salvador when I taught English there years ago. Within a short amount of time, she became my Salvadorean mom and we’ve been in touch ever since. She was the vice principal of the Baha’i inspired elementary school in El Salvador for many years, and helped save the school from closing. She has affected so many lives, including mine, and now I want to help fund an operation for her to be able to walk again.
A few years ago, she had to have operations because her bones had been weakened over time from her having Polio as a child. Now she has a prosthetic femur that has shifted out of place and has damaged her knee cap. She needs an operation to shift the prosthetic bone back in place and to reinforce her knee cap. She does not have insurance anymore because she has been unable to work. She has been waiting to have an operation in a public hospital as less cost, but that could take up to 3 years. She lives alone and has had too many hardships to count. Any help is much appreciated 🙂

Maria Gladis es una mujer absolutamente increíble con la que viví
en El Salvador cuando enseñé inglés allí hace años. En poco tiempo,
se convirtió en mi mamá salvadoreña y hemos estado en contacto
desde entonces. Fue la subdirectora de la escuela primaria de
inspiración bahá'í en El Salvador durante muchos años y ayudó a
evitar que la escuela cerrara. Ha afectado tantas vidas, incluida
la mía, y ahora quiero ayudar a financiar una operación para que
pueda volver a caminar.Hace unos años, tuvo que someterse a
operaciones porque sus huesos se habían debilitado con el tiempo
debido a que tuvo polio cuando era niña. Ahora tiene una prótesis
de fémur que se ha salido de su lugar y se ha dañado la rótula.
Necesita una operación para volver a colocar el hueso protésico
en su lugar y reforzar la rótula. Ya no tiene seguro porque no ha
podido trabajar. Ha estado esperando que le operen en un hospital
público por un menor costo, pero eso podría demorar hasta 3 años.
Vive sola y ha tenido demasiadas dificultades para contar.
